Waiting For A New Day

A slideshow about the Bakhtiari Tribe in Iran. I don't like a couple of the slides with the Shah and Soraya Bakhtiari in them, but the rest of them are authentic and spectacular and the music is really sweet; talks about end of winter and the coming of Eid.
I took the day off to attend some errands and to take care of some Nowrooz chores. I took my younger son for his driving test at the DMV. He passed. I am delighted for his achievement which means something special to people who are 18. I am worried for what will be in store for me over the coming months, judging from his older brother's car wrecks and ensued worries right after he got his driver's license! I am glad my son is on his way to independent living, the way all young people should be. I should learn to worry less.
Some major clean-up projects are taking place in my head and in my physical surroundings. My mind and my heart are full of Nowrooz, a new day. I can't wait. I can't wait.

And I guess this is the major thing I've lost it in my very own life. Well, I can smell the spring but it doesnt remind me of Norooz...

Farshad Jan,Salam:

I'm glad you're getting into the spirit of Nowrooz. Don't forget to send me pictures, too! Be good azizam and have a save trip.

Beautiful Nasm:

I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I really liked it, too. Are you ready for Charshanbeh Soori in Berkeley? It's on Tuesday the 19th at Persian Center. Can't wait!

Salam Bar Marzieh-ye Azizam:

I have missed you girl! I hope you are doing your Nowrooz preparations in peace and love. Is your daughter getting excited about it yet?

I used to take a haft-sin, a cassette player, and shirini to my children's school every year just before Nowrooz, explaining our customs and treating the kids in class to shirini and juice, teaching them how to dance the Persian dance. Have you ever considered doing it for your daughter? It will be very good for her, as well as her classmates. Do it sooner than later, because when they grow older, they prefer assimilation to being different.

Have a good evening Marzieh-ye-mehraban.

Fariba Jan:

Thanks so much for coming back my friend! Hee Hee, yes, remember the two of them running around the place when we had our company party and everybody came with their families? Grown young men now! Enjoy your lovely young children Fariba Joon. Soon enough, they too will grow into a beautiful young man and woman. My best to Amir.

Golabi Joonam:

Jaye mamanet khali nabasheh azizam. It must be so hard for you. I hope you are taking good care of yourself and Bardia.

Please make sure you get enough sleep with an infant. Sleep deprivation wears young parents out and makes them susceptible to viruses and crankiness! Enjoy your beautiful young family Golabi Jan. Happy spring!

Sweet Serendip:

I know that with your green thumb, all kinds of beautiful flowers must be blooming in our home. People who like plants have a piece of spring blooming in their homes at all times.

I have been working on my papers, filing and weeding and attending them, as I don't want to start the new year with this mess again! Some kind of khooneh takooni,if you will!

Be good azizam.

Masoud Jan:

Thanks for sharing your pre-Nowrooz memories with me! We used to write on the blackboard: 15 rooz ta sal-e 13..., 14 rooz ta sal-e 13..., etc.! It was so sweet and so exciting to wait for Nowrooz to come.

I hated the homeworks, though! Yikes! Never did them or never finished them! I used to get punished for it right after the holidays! Those are memories I'd rather forget!

Be good my kind friend, Masoud.
