Gift
I speak out of the deep of Night
Out of the deep of darkness I speak
And out of the deep of night
Should you come to my house, O Kind Soul,
Bring me a lamp and a window
Through which I may view the crowd
of the happy alley

Salam Leva Jan.

My mistake. I fixed it. It is Mina Momeni. I also put the link to Elaheh Gallery for those in Iran who would like to see Ms. Momeni's other works but can't access Iranian.com. It was great chatting with you, Leva. You are monumentally FUNNY! Take care azizam.

Salam Neda Jan:

Coming from you, the compliment is very special. Of course, one artist took the picture and another great artist and thinker wrote the poem and I did nothing but to put them together, so the credit must be close to none.

I think Forough is hopeful in this poem, because she already knows what would cheer her up and make her happy, and is asking for it. Learning what makes us happy is half the battle--the rest is easier. Take care Neda Joonam.

Salam Bar Farshad-e Aziz O Forough-doost:

I should have remembered that when I have a poetry post, you always come and cheer me up my friend! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I agree that those final poems were Forough's best and most hopeful poems. As you recall, I once posted that "Be Aftab..." poem (in English) here:

When for whatever reason I have a lot on my mind, reading Forough always sets me right. I went into our living room tonight, where my sons and their friend Iden were watching TV tonight. I started looking for my Forough books, and my older son said: "In the mood for poetry again tonight?" It made me smile! I am an open book to my kids!

Thank you again for your active paricipation. You rock!

Salam Masoud Jan:

Thank you for visiting again. I would love to see your piece about Forough. Yes, please do share. I have many books about Forough, and one of them has many photographs of her during the time she lived in Ahvaz. It is interesting to see her face in those pictures, as a newly-wed, and as a young mother, showing a wide range of emotions. I look forward to receiving your article. Take care.

Farshad Jan:

I love that "Someone Who Isn't Like Anyone" poem, too. It is so melodic, full of amazing imagery. Reading it, one would believe that it was written by a child, and this is the poet's ultimate victory in delivery, in my opinion. Thanks again.

Yes, Farshad Jan. The guys are great, but even my older son has already gone to bed, and here I am, still playing like a child! But as I just said to Marzieh, I am going to bed now! I want to play, but unfortunately, I am not a child and I do have many responsibilities! So, off I go. Have a lovely day in Tehran and if you decide to send me a video, make sure it isn't much longer than 1 minute or so, so that I can easily post it here. Thanks again and take care. I am really going now.

Movement, motion, moment! All changes in space and time signify a kind of motion. What is very significant for me in all your pictorial dance showings is the appearance of motion. So, dance means motion! Its implicate meaning enfolds the concept of change and captures the meaning of moment which we perceive as the change of time! Some people like D. Bohm believe that movement is the most fundamental concept in nature and that it is the corner stone of other concepts we see and use.
I really enjoyed seeing this picture. Thanks!

Salam Nazy jan,

Apparently poetry is more popular among your fans; Not that many people mentioned the beautiful photo by Mina Momeni. Such a wonderful photo! I wasn't familiar with her work before. It has captured the essence of "Torkaman" colors nicely.

The picture is so beautiful. Some of your pictures are really unique : )

Another day off in the snow sounds good to me! I remember the joyous chanting of our childhood time in Tehran: "fitileh, farda tatileh!" I won't be the grownup that worries about national productivity today. Have a good day Farshad!

Salam Nimeh Shab-e-Azizam. I'm so glad you liked the post. Forough is timeless. Have a good evening my friend.

Salam Daisy Jan:

Yes, Forough wins hands down everytime! Though several of the readers did comment on the photo. Ms. Momeni is a gifted artist and her photo collection is awesome. I am not an artist myself, but as a humble observer of arts, I feel so rich on the days when I "find" a treasure somewhere, especially if it's created by an Iranian somwhere. I'm glad you enjoyed it my friend.

Thanks Nazy Khanoom!
I live in the UAE for the past 17 years but it is now for 10 years I did not have the chance to visit Iran... Currently I am planning to continue my education for a mster degree but still so many rocks in the way : )
It is so pleasing to the readers when you participate in the comments!

Nazy said...

Be careful Farshad! "Tatileh" means you stay home and avoid accidents!

Salam Shahrzad Jan:

Thank you for your reply. Seventeen years is a long time! You must know every inch of UAE by now! When I lived in Iran, I used to visit Dubai frequently for work, and at least once a year my sons and I would take a vacation there, sometimes with my nieces and nephews (yes, I was brave and crazy enough to travel with a group of 14-17 year olds!). I have many wonderful memories of the place, staying in fancy hotels or tiny "fandogh's!" I would really like to take the bus from Dubai to Amman one day and visit Masqat.

I wish you success in your endeavors towards higher education. I'm so glad to have found you! Please come back again soon and chat with us. The pleasure is entirely mine.
