Abadan On My Mind

Our weather has turned cool. My feet are cold all the time now, and I have to wear socks, my least favorite item of clothing! I made my Sunday morning cup of tea, and sit here watching the steam making a pretty dance escaping the cup. I took care of chores yesterday. It was a solitary day for me, where by accident or by choice, I didn't get to talk to too many people.
Quite by accident I ran into a blog in Iran, and when I read its latest post, I felt good. The post is really a letter to Mayor of Abadan, asking him why Abadan has not been fixed and repaired in all the years since the war. It is an intelligent and responsible piece of writing, filled with love for Iran, without hate for anyone. I would like to think it would be the type of thing I would write if I were smart and brave enough. Alas, living outside Iran, many people believe that I don't have the right to write such a letter, even if I had the intelligence and courage! Well, I'm glad someone who lives inside Iran and went to visit Abadan recently wrote it. As many of you know by now, I am not from Gilan, Mazandaran, Khorasan, Boushehr, Abadan, Shiraz, Isfahan, Baluchistan, Azerbaijan, or most of the other cities and villages I write about. I am from Iran. I belong to all of Iran, and all of it belongs to me, regardless of what anyone might say to the contrary.
I continue my solitary weekend today, taking care of more things and doing some work for Peyk, clearing my plate. I hope you are having a peaceful day, too.

Siah Jan:

That's what he says on his blog. Never mind what he does for a living or whether he is really over 50 (which endears him to me endlessly! I finally found someone older than me!). He loves Iran and cares enough to write something so heartfelt and poignant. I am now his reader. Be good my friend.

Dear Dancing Moon:

You flatter me silly! I am lucky enough to have figured out the beauties and excitements of life, and an angle from which to see it and enjoy it. I have no doubt you would behave even better when you are my age my friend. Thanks for coming and taking the time to leave a mark of yourself. Be good azizam and come back anytime.

Neda Janam: Yes, I loved the way he wrote that letter. He wrote it as a caring parent would talk to his child. Instead of accusing and name-calling and sounding angry, he sounds like a caring father, a good friend, and a good citizen of his country. I am really impressed. Thanks for coming and saying your piece again. I love seeing you around here. You make me smile with joy interesting and intelligent Neda.

Thank you Ehsan Jan for taking the time and trouble to check it out. Now, please tell me how you got yourself pinged successfully! I can't seem to be able to rise on the link lists anywhere! I am so incompetent in technology. Be good azizam.

Nazy,
You are not incompetent technology-wise or anything like that at all. I mentioned in response to your email that I was just lucky. The service was working for a shorh while and I happened to ping in that period.
I emailed them about it. This seems to happen to blogrolling every once in a while.

Dear After 50: I am honored you came to visit me! I was touched by your letter. No doubt, you have many stories to share with us of the things you observe and feel. We would be delighted to hear from you about anything you feel moved to tell us. Thank you for taking the trouble to come and visit. Thank you also for loving Iran as you do. Iran deserves to be loved and cared for by all of us.

Aghaye Bayramali Salam. Showing off, are you?! I must have pinged my blog 200 times, and rightfully so, because I have had new posts which didn't get a chance to advance on link lists! Thankfully, my faithful readers continue to come and visit me. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Perhaps since you seem to be sitting at the "golden keyboard," you would be kind enough to ping me and Ala Hazrat, too? Thank you.

Dear Mehran: What can I say? You and I seem to be the only ones stuck at the bottom of the list! It's O.K., though, as many people are visiting us the old fashioned way! I don't use Blogrolling on my link list myself, so I can see that Blogrolling isn't too kind to me, but why is it unkind to you? Big mystery. When we get together, we will take care of that show-off Bayramali! For now let's be nice to him so he will ping us, too!

Ehsan Jan, thank you for writing to Blogrolling. It is a mess now, but hopefully it will be sorted out soon. I see that some people have been able to climb up the list twice and that irks me a little bit! Thank you for your vote of confidence regarding my technological abilities! You are kind as usual. Be good.

Salam Uni-Far Jan: How fortunate for you to have visited the friendly Abadan so many times! I went to Abadan pre-Revolution, and thought it to be a little piece of heaven on earth. I have many Abadani friends, all of whom are kind and generous and warm. I haven't been back to visit it, and I have every intention of doing so just as soon as I can. Be happy Farshad Jan.
