Two Hands Raised In Dance....

I am off for the weekend. I leave you with the image of hands raised in dance, speaking volumes of words and poetry, I believe*. I hope to be able to go to a special music and dance performance tomorrow night. It is called “Bridges,” and in its announcement flyer it says: “A concert bridging Jewish and Persian cultures through music and dance.” It is exciting for me for a number of reasons: I would love to hear the Yiddish songs they will be singing; I want to see Shahrzad Khorsandi dance; and my friend Aileen Kim dances with the ensemble, too, though she is neither Jewish nor Persian! It will be in a synagogue (kaniseh, or kenesht) in Berkeley, and I will report on it as soon as I can. Have a beautiful weekend wherever you are, eat and drink what you like, rest and relax all you can, and most importantly call, hug, and hold those whom you love. Life is too short to miss out on love and friendships, is what I think. P.S. Did you know that the Biblical Three Wise Men were Zarathustrian Iranians (Persians)? P.P.S. I promise to post the last installment of "Identity" sometime this weekend, too, though I will be intermittently working on home and work projects. *Photo: Hilary Bryan Website

Farnice Jan: I just love reading your posts! Your prose is so easy to read, leaving me with energy to try and understand the content, which is deep on many levels.

It will be my honor to be added to your list! I'm not very good with this technology, and I don't know the etiquette very well, either. I have been meaning to add your excellent blog to my list, too, and didn't know how to go about it! The performance is tonight and I'll report on it soon thereafter. Thanks for coming azizam. Please come again.

Is that true about the three wise men? Do you know a place where I can read more about that? Happy Weekend!

Salam Assal Jan:
Yes, it's true. Take a look at this for now, and I will get you names of books I have read on the subject later. They were Persian Zarathustrians.

Thanks for visiting.

I think so, too, Serendip. The performance I went to last night was AWESOME! I forgot my camera, would you believe? I asked this very kind man who was videotaping (is there such a verb anymore?) the performance to lend me a few stills so that I can write about it and he agreed! As soon as I have photos I will report on what a spiritual and moving performance this was. Be good Serendip, and happy Sunday.
