Santouri Cancelled in Stanford

Hoda has left a comment, telling me about the cancellation. Thank you so much Hoda Jan for taking the trouble to let me know. You are really kind, and as my kids would say, you are "Ba Maram." So, I guess we will all have to go to Aleph Null's performance in Berkeley on Sunday and have a good time!
Related to the subject, Leva had also kindly sent me this article about why Merhrjui, et.al. won't be traveling yet.

Salam Mehran Jan. Yes. You were the first one and I thank you my friend. (kami ham sagh siah boodi, come to think of it!). But Hoda wrote those guys at PSA, got a reply and left me a comment about it. For a first comment, it was pretty heroic if you ask me! Be good Mehran Jan.

That's too bad. I was hoping you lucky people of the west(!) would go to this and then would tell us all about it.

Salam Jeer Jan! Yes, it's too bad. I am really disappointed at Stanford's Persian Student Association for not publicizing the cancellation earlier,as there was talk of it, per our esteemed Ala Mehran. I'm sure the movie would make it up here soon, but I'm not too sure about Mehrjui, et.al. Be good azizam.

What a bummer. Well, they might reschedule.

We will see it soon, I'm sure Serendip. My friend Dr. Jaleh Pirnazar taught an Iranian Film course at Berkeley last year. She has put together a fascinating archive of Iranian movies, which can be used as research references for those interested. I hope in time this movie will be added to the collection. In the meantime, we wait.

Too bad! I had the same reaction as jeerjeerak: I was disappointed because I was looking forward to your telling us all about it!! Hopefully soon....

Assal, you live one mile away from me! I'm dragging you with me when it finally shows up! Then I can tell the story and you can fill in the blanks!

You are lucky you can see it after all. you know that in Iran, the ministry of Ershad finally announced that the movie is not fit for show. after having cut out several pieces of it, and postponing the date of it's show, it was cancelled indefinitely. a friend of mine who saw it in a very private show in the producer's home says it's not that good, but all the same, when you are bereaved of something, you'll become more eager to have it. and it hurts deeply to see that authorities in Iran can easily ruin the hopes of people who have been waitig for this movie for a long time. it is embaressing for a nation to be treated like an imbecile who cannot decide what's good or bad for them.

Salam Fariba Jan: Welcome back! I missed you my friend. I hope all is well in Tehran. Your points are beautifully and intelligently written again my friend. Thanks.
