Occupied Chairs
Sorry for disappearing from the radar! I have been so busy this weekend, preparing for a gathering of friends and a few family members, as well as looking after my house guest, Mersedeh. I think the party was a success. I invited several of my friends to come and to be my family. They came and some of them brought their friends, so it was a lively event, full of joy and warmth and friendship. My little house was teeming with people and joy. Of course there was food and dancing (it wouldn't be an Iranian party without those two elements), but there was also a lively game of pantomime, which was entirely too hilarious, and live musical performances by unnamed Northern California bloggers. I missed all those who couldn't make it, and rejoiced at welcoming the ones that came. It is always a good day when the chairs are occupied, the plates are used, the food is eaten, and the doors are opened to welcome all those breathing, thinking, feeling, and smiling faces in my house. This was a good day for me to be thankful for second chances, new beginnings, and flawless feelings of friendship and harmony. Jaye hamegi khali bood.

thank you so much for the wonderful night, I had so much fun and I ate a lot. my favorite moment of the party was when Tameshk was trying to manage her team. that was hilarious. I had tears in my eyes from laugh.
P.S: this year I had many reasons to be thankful for. one of them was that I am thankful for that rainy day on febraury which I drove to stanford and I found wonderful people to be friend with. a friendship that I am sure would last for life. I am thankful for that. be good nazy jan

Sounds like a wonderful time!! What was the funniest word that someone had to act out? Please give us details!!
I'm glad your evening was a success and wish I was there...
Love,
Assal
Wow! look what I missed.
Salam Sheni Jan: I regret your living in Southern California ALL THE TIME! It wasn't a happy thought thinking that everyone was having such a good time here, and you were down there all by yourself! We did miss you greatly my friend. We will just have to make up for it really soon! Be good azizam.
Salam Masoud Jan: Hee Hee, you flatter me senseless! Na baba, sher koja bood? Just some scribblings from the heart. You, on the other hand, turned my scribblings into what reads like a poem in Farsi! Thank you.
Dear Sweet Ala Hazrat Jan: Ghebleh-ye Alam, Ghorbanat Gardam, the pleasure was all mine! You are a joy to see everytime. I loved that Kermani song! Many people don't know just how talented Your Majesty is!
I hope you do well in your exams.
Salam Universal Farshad Jan:
Akhay! So, O.K. If I get any pictures from the dinner table, I will post them (and if I don't, I won't, as I have no other pictures to share!). After that, I promise I will leave food alone for a long time, so as not to torture you and myself! Be good Farshad Jan.
Leva Jan: It's funny, but I seem to only have a general idea of the evening, and no specifics stick to my mind! So, I can't really provide any explanations or any examples of the questions. I just know that it was hilarious and my sides hurt from all the laughing. Be good azizam and come anytime.
Dear Sweet Marzieh: You are entirely too kind to me. I hope someday you can come to our area and sit in my chair and share a meal or a cup of tea with me. Take care doostam.
Assal Jan, missed you to no end! No examples come to mind right now! If I remember anything, I'll call you and tell you. You were really missed.
Ehsan, Ehsan, I'm so sorry you and Maryam missed it! I did remember you and talk about how we were missing you several times. I hope you have had a good weekend with your family. I'll see you guys soon.
Oh My God. Look at your table. And then you tell me that my setting was "perfest". You are so modest. Your table looks wonderful and I am happy to see you had so much fun. Be happy :-))
Salam Chekameh Jan! Thanks for coming again, my friend. Your table looked perfect and full of love and detailed labor. When you make the effort for two, you must have true love and devotion in your heart. I, on the other hand, had no choice but to cook for the close to 30 people who were going to show up expecting food! It was a lovely time and I enjoyed myself immensely in the company of friends. You must promise to look me up when you are in our area and we will get together and do something fun together. Shad bash azizam.
Nazy joon. Merci. The fact is that I truely wished I could have some guests. I invited couple of our friends 2 months ago, and they all had other invitation. Concerning that I came to the US only 2 years ago, I still don't have that many friends :-) I hope for the coming years my network is widen.
And then, likewise. Please if you are coming toward Southern California lets meet, and have our cup of tea or coffee.
Thanks again for your nice words, and also I loved your story on the Balouch Woman. Thanks for sharing the story.
Chakameh Jan:
I'm so familiar with the loneliness of the first years of a move. Next year, invite your friends early, like now! I am a member of your network already my friend! Tea and coffee and conversation sound fabulous. We will do it as soon as we are given a chance. Be happy azizam.
